🧠 What Are SmartFields (and Why You’ll Love Them)
SmartFields in Plannerly are smart placeholders you can drop into your document templates to automatically pull in project-specific information.
They help you:
Avoid manual find and replace
Standardize documents across all projects
Keep everything up-to-date — automatically!
✅ How to Use SmartFields
Open your Document Template Project
Go to your Docs tab and open the document you'd like to edit or create as a template.Insert SmartFields into your content
Click the{}
icon (SmartFields menu) and choose fields like:Project Name
Client Name
Version
Discipline
Document Status
…and more!
- 🪄 These fields will auto-fill based on your project info.
Save as Template
Use these SmartFields across multiple projects by saving your document as a Template.
✏️ Example
Instead of writing:
"This BIM Execution Plan is for the Springfield Medical Center project."
Use a SmartField:
"This BIM Execution Plan is for the {Project Name} project."
📌 When this document is added to a project, it will automatically fill in the smartfield and show as:
"This BIM Execution Plan is for the Springfield Medical Center project."
🧰 Common SmartFields You Can Use

---|---|
{Project Name} | Your project’s title |
