Why this matters

Uploading files to the correct location keeps your information structured, traceable, and aligned with ISO 19650 workflows. Choosing the right option ensures files are easy to verify, review, and manage.

Option 1: Upload files to a task (Scope or Verify)

Use this option when the file is part of a defined requirement in your Scope, or when it needs to be attached to a specific task you are verifying.

From the Scope module

If the Scope includes a document requirement, attach files directly to that task:

  1. Open Scope.
  2. Click the cell for the task you want to upload to.
  3. The task card will open.
  4. Select Upload to add your file.
  5. Add metadata when prompted.

This keeps each file connected to its defined information requirement.

From the Verify module

If you are reviewing deliverables in Verify, you can upload files from the same task card:

  1. Open Verify.
  2. Select the task you are reviewing.
  3. Click Upload to attach the coordination file.
  4. Add metadata if required.

Important: Uploading from Scope or Verify attaches the file to the same underlying task. This ensures alignment between planning and verification.

Option 2: Upload files to File Manager

Use File Manager when uploading general coordination files that are not tied to a specific task or requirement. Examples include CAD coordination packages, PDF markups, reference drawings, or owner deliverables.

  1. Open File Manager from the left navigation.
  2. Select Upload.
  3. Add metadata when prompted.
  4. Set permissions for team members, consultants, or owners.

Additional File Manager benefits

  • Granular file-level permissions
  • Structured metadata for filtering and reporting
  • E-signature workflows:
    • If the file was created inside Plannerly, the signature is applied directly to the PDF.
    • If it is an external file, Plannerly adds a signed cover page to the PDF.

Which option should you choose?

Upload locationBest for
Task (Scope or Verify)Files tied to specific information requirements or deliverables
File ManagerGeneral coordination files, permissions control, or files requiring e-signature

Most teams use both approaches: upload requirement-specific files to tasks, and upload project-wide coordination files to File Manager.
