Plannerly has one Export menu, and you can open it from wherever you're working - the project dashboard, Docs, Scope, Verify or File Manager. Create a PDF or Word document, an Excel file of your Scope, an IDS specification or a COBie handover file without leaving the page, and find every file in File Manager afterwards.
Where to find Export
- Project dashboard: the Export button.
- Docs: Export in the floating toolbar.
- Scope and Verify: the export icon in the toolbar ("Export File").
- File Manager: New File - "Create a PDF, Word or Excel document, an IDS specification, or a COBie handover file."
What you can create
- Document - combine Docs and Scope content into one filtered PDF or Word document, with your cover, headers and footers. See export a document to PDF or Word.
- Scope Data - an Excel file with all your tasks and project requirements. See export Scope to Excel.
- IDS Specifications - your information requirements as a buildingSMART IDS file in XML. See import and export IDS files.
- Handover Data - an Excel file of your model's assets and their data, laid out for COBie. See COBie handover data.
- Share - copy a private link or share a live public view, when you'd rather send a link than a file. See sharing projects and document sections.
Scope Data, IDS Specifications and Handover Data appear when the project uses Scope. IDS Specifications and Handover Data also need at least one milestone.
Where your files go
Every export is saved in File Manager with the title you gave it, so the whole team can find, download and share it. Create it again whenever the project changes, or let Plannerly do it for you on a schedule - see how to automate PDF exports.

Questions about exporting
Why can't I see the Export button?
Exporting depends on your role in the project. Ask a project manager to check your role's permissions.
Why are some export types missing?
Scope Data, IDS Specifications and Handover Data appear only when the project uses the Scope module, and IDS Specifications and Handover Data need at least one milestone.
Do I need to open File Manager first?
No. Export works from the dashboard, Docs, Scope and Verify, and the finished file appears in File Manager on its own.
Export from every module was first announced in our changelog in July 2023. See every update since in the in-app changelog.
